What the heck??? This was all that came to my mind when on Ahmedabad airport I was told that instead of my flight in early morning from Mumbai at 5, I will depart at 3 in the afternoon!!! I was shocked. Why should I suffer the strike that the Air India employees had undergone??? I reached Bombay at 4:50am. So almost 10 hours before my flight would take off. One thing that drived me mad was there was no accomodation available. I had to sit on the airport in one stupid chair glancing at fellow passengers. At 6 we were given complimentary breakfast of Cutlets, Sandwhich (foul tasting one and limited no.!!) and UNLIMITED tea (or coffee)!! On questioning about further arrangements we were said that we will be given another breakfast. What man, the other breakfast was served at 8 and the same menu added with puri sabji was given.... the only difference that this time it was all unlimited. After 10 hours the flight was announced to be boarding. With an aching pichhwada and a stiff back, We boarded the plane.
The best part was that the plane was almost empty. I had a window seat but the 2 seats next to me remained unoccupied and so I could sleep nicely.!!! From Paris a gorgeous air hostess boarded the plane(No bad thoughts boys!!!!). Finally, I landed in USA (Newark) at 12 at night instead of 4 in the afternoon.
So I missed my Continental flight to Pittsburgh, but the AI staff gave me a 12$ food voucher(Only McD was open at that time) and arranged me on a 8:15am Continental. I had 2 large chip packets and a large cold drinks coz McD has no other Veggie offerings.!!!
Finally exhausted and drained I reached Pittsburgh at 10am... The remaining part later!!!
